I didn't feel the connection between the two of them either. It was implied, but I never 'saw' it.
Meygan and David literally run in to each other outside of her work, a failed lunch date attempt later they run in to each other again. Fate? Not so much.
David has issues after leaving the military, PTSD rules his life. I didn't like how Meygan was pushing herself on him. He said no a few times but she just kept pushing.
The friend, Betha, did not like her one bit. Where she should of been supportive, she was arrogant and pushy. Horrible character.
The ending was just ok. May I just say that I love My Immortal by Evanescence, but it is not a song you slow dance too!

Don't put this book on your "to be read" list--read it now!!! AM Madden masterfully weaves this love story with plenty of mystery, intrigue, and deceit around a hot steamy romance. David is broken, after a stint overseas with the Army. He suffers from PTSD, as well as his own demons, which keep him from getting close to anyone; he sees no way to "fix" himself except to try and help other veterans. Maygen is trying her best to get out from under her father's over-protective thumb and make a name for herself. After David literally runs into Maygen outside her favorite coffee shop one morning the sparks fly, but the world around them is not going to make it easy for them to get to know each other. Just when you think they actually have a chance at happiness Ms. Madden throws in a twist that no one sees coming, and it's hard to believe they'll make it through!
Ms. Madden has obviously done her research and does a great job presenting David's PTSD through his dreams and internal conflicts in such a way that all you want to do is help him find his way back, but doesn't sugar-coat it so you realize that although he's making progress, PTSD is actually a long journey that he'll be navigating for the rest of his life. Will Maygen help or hinder his journey? Will his family support or shun him? Can he find any kind of "happily ever after"? You'll just have to read it to find out!

Heartfelt! Captivating! Sexy! Suspenseful! I loved it!!!
I can’t explain what was different about this book, because I love all of A.M. Madden’s books, but I was cemented to the story. The detailed words just flowed so smoothly where I was going from one chapter into the next without any pause, picturing it all in my head so clearly. I love when a book can suck you into the pages where you feel like you are there with the characters and Dark Corners achieves that.
Dark Corners is written in both Maygen and David’s Point of View. They have so much going on and are both vulnerable in their own insecurities that I was able to empathize with both the characters and their struggles.
David is an Alpha Hero, EX- Military. He is fierce, possessive, quick witted, complex and seductive in the way he pursues Maygen. I fell hard for this bad boy!
Maygen is young & rich with a promising career in Fashion. She is strong willed, courageous, independent, down to earth and I hate to say it “Nice” but she really is so damn NICE! I love her, I love all the characters, maybe not all…AM Madden knows how to write one demented psychotic character that’s for sure.
I connected so much with this story that I am going to have one serious book hangover!!
Dark Corners is gripping, thrilling, suspenseful and “Sexy as Hell”.
This is book 3 in the True Heroes series--- David Cavello is out of the uniform but that doesn’t mean you will never get the man mentally out of that uniform. He is constantly reminded every day of the struggles and of the pain of the past of what he went thru in the war. He now suffers with PTSD and came home with problems, with demons he has yet to face. David is a man who is so beaten down, so broken yet he still tries to pretend he is still whole- I suffer with him during this story, I hurt with him and his pain is mine as his accomplishments are miracles to be savored. In this book he literally runs into this little sassy woman named Maygen. As soon as he ran into her, David felt the black cloud lifting and he wanted to be all up in Maygen’s business and in a good way. Something called to him when he was with her. David is undercover and when he makes contact with Maygen, he is going against everything to keep in contact with her. The insanely crazy attraction is what keeps bringing David back plus Maygen is sassy and so fierce. What can he do, she calms his PTSD and he actually likes her? It’s a win win. Maygen comes from a father who is very overprotective and she is just now finding her way in life and she meets this hunky alpha male-strong on alpha. She finds him so delicious and mysterious. She cant help the attraction so she decides to see what could go on between them for David sees just perfect but what do they say about perfect things? Be careful about gifts that come gift wrapped? betrayal deceit angst passion loss terror hopelessness hope love forgiveness beautifulness -- all these worlds sum up this novel and I cant say enough good things about it. I don’t want to give too much away but you will never forgive yourself if you do not rush out and get this book.
